With a career spanning over two decades and decorated with several awards, nominations and music certifications to her name, multi-platinum recording artist Fefe Dobson is a true renaissance woman within the entertainment industry. Emerging as a pop / rock artist in the early 2000’s, Fefe stood out among her contemporaries as an edgy black female outlier in an otherwise male dominated genre.
Her Platinum Certified (Gold in America) eponymous debut album (2003) was released to critical acclaim, earning the 18 year old new girl on the music scene 4 consecutive top 10 radio singles including 'Bye Bye Boyfriend,' 'Take Me Away' and 'Don't Go (Girls & Boys)'. The single ‘Everything’ was a fan favorite that was featured on the soundtrack for Paramount Pictures hit teen comedy ‘The Perfect Score’ (2004). The album received multiple award nominations including 2 JUNO Award nominations and catapulted the young pop / rock artist into international stardom as the album officially debuted at #1 on the Billboard HeatSeekers album charts and landed her an opening slot of Justin Timberlake’s 2004 Justified Tour across Europe. Upon returning to North America, Fefe dove into the acting world, appearing as one of her biggest influences, the iconic Tina Turner on the hit NBC series American Dreams.
As an accomplished songwriter Fefe has penned hit songs for the biggest names in pop music including Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Jordin Sparks between releasing her own material for her follow up album 'Joy' (2010). Fefe's sophomore album was a breakout success with two platinum certified top 10 singles 'Ghost' and 'Stuttering' and the gold certified hit 'Can't Breathe,' a collaboration with legendary music producer Bob Ezrin (KISS, Pink Floyd) and guitar solo by recording artist Orianthi.
In 2011, Fefe joined the cast of Sudz Sutherland’s independent film “Home Again” alongside Tatyana Ali and Stephen James, in the supporting role of Cherry C, which debuted at the world renowned Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2012. This feature film acting role earned her a nomination at the 2012 Canadian Screen Award for Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role.
To follow up the success of her album “Joy,” Fefe released several buzz singles intended for a future project, including the radio singles “Legacy” which initially premiered on the hit teen drama series ‘Degrassi’ in the summer of 2013 and “In Better Hands” in 2014. In late 2014, Fefe took a hiatus from her own music projects to focus on writing behind the scenes for other artists, after relocating to Nashville, Tennessee.
During the COVID-19 outbreak in early 2019, Fefe alongside Canadian pop star Tyler Shaw assembled some of Canada's biggest artists including Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne and Bryan Adams for a charity single of the late Bill Withers' 'Lean On Me' which raised over $200K for COVID-19 relief efforts in her native Canada.
In early 2020, Fefe teamed up with legendary songwriter and producer Linda Perry for 'White Line Runaways' a song which was featured on the HBO MAX film 'Unpregnant' (2020) soundtrack.
International artists like Willow Smith and Olivia Rodrigo made a big impact in 2021 with their rock driven pop anthems across social media and radio charts. This shift in sound among the younger generation cracked the door back open for pioneers like Fefe to be reintroduced and acknowledged for the groundwork they laid years prior. As NYLON Magazine thoughtfully pointed out “Dobson inspired Black alternative kids who saw themselves in her.”
Fefe’s lead single “FCKN IN LOVE” is best described as a euphoric rush of passionate love driven by the heartbeat of synth, electric guitars and emphatic drum progression. Produced by Thomas “Tawgs” Salter (Walk Off The Earth, Mother Mother, Lights) and co-written by Cook Classics (Beyoncé, Ava Max, Panic! at the Disco), Negin Djafari (Drake, ZAYN, Lights) and Dobson herself, the song was originally written back in 2012 about insatiable love. This marked Fefe’s long awaited return from the pop / rock artist as her first commercial music release in nearly 8 years.
The brand new album ‘EMOTION SICKNESS’ is out now via 21 Entertainment and Warner Music, a culmination of Fefe’s rock influences and pop melodies blended together. Fans can expect a sound that they're familiar with and unifies Fefe’s earlier music releases in a modern body of work.

The breakout hit “With You,” reached Double Platinum status and amassed over 40 million video views on YouTube. The sentimental mid-temp ballad “To the Man Who Let Her Go” also went Platinum. These accolades earned him a 2019 JUNO Award nomination for ‘Pop Album of the Year.’ Tyler’s third studio album, the eponymous Tyler Shaw, was released in 2021 and features the hit bouncy summer song “Remember,” which also went Gold. That year Tyler released his first holiday album A Tyler Shaw Christmas.
Shaw has opened for massive international artists, including Shawn Mendes and Alessia Cara, and toured with Selena Gomez.
In 2021, Tyler spearheaded (with Fefe Dobson) the collective artist initiative ArtistsCAN to raise funds for COVID-19 relief in Canada. The pair gathered other musicians from across the country, including Justin Bieber, Michael Bublé and Marie-Mai, to cover the classic single “Lean On Me,” with proceeds going to the Canadian Red Cross COVID relief fund. Tyler’s third studio album, the eponymous Tyler Shaw, was released August 20, 2021 and features the hit summer anthem “Remember,” the romantic ballad “When You’re Home,” and top 10 hit gold certified pop single “I See You.”
Most recently, Tyler released his viral rendition of GAYLE’s No. 1 hit “abcdefu.” “Love You Still” (abcdefu Romantic Version), started as a TikTok duet in late January. It reacted instantly with his fans. Twenty-one-year-old Nicolina has had a whirlwind few years. When the Canadian teen began posting TikTok videos from her suburban bedroom in 2020, she had no idea she would eventually find herself on the international stage on 2022’s American Idol. But when you hear her sing – and when audiences all over the world have experienced her almost preternatural talent – the journey feels almost inevitable. It’s those breathtaking high notes, rich tone, and controlled range. Nicolina’s talent is undeniable, and the sheer force and reality of her voice have made her a fan favourite and artist to watch as she gets ready to release new music.
Growing up in Toronto’s suburbs, the eldest of three sisters, Nicolina was surrounded by music, and once she started singing as a toddler, she never stopped. An early grade school experience of singing in front of a crowd and eliciting big emotions from her teachers and faculty became a kind of guidepost for her. People react – they have always reacted – when she sings, and connecting with audiences on such a visceral, emotional level is at the heart of everything she does.
Nicolina continued singing informally throughout her childhood before attending a performing arts high school and connecting with peers and teachers to collaborate with and learn from. It was here, while studying musical theatre, that she began to seriously develop her innate ability to tell a story and connect with an audience through music. While she was in high school she began posting on social media, quickly getting significant attention for her resonant covers of ballads on TikTok. During this time, Nicolina was learning how to be an artist, taking inspiration from those who came before her and constantly drawing on her own life to create something beautiful and emotional to share.
Those popular TikTok posts resulted in calls from casting agents and the opportunity to audition for American Idol. The experience was pure positivity. Says Nicolina “everything was so magical. When it came time to meet the judges, I felt a wave of adrenaline and nerves, but I was totally composed. I opened my eyes at the end of the song and the judges were on their feet. There was nothing but positivity and love.” The storied competition loved her back: Nicolina went on to become the only Canadian in the history of American Idol to navigate to a top five finalist and fan favourite. Nicolina returned home to Canada and decided it was time to take the leap and pursue music.
A self-taught keys player, Nicolina began writing her own music and collaborating with other musicians and writers. And everything, always, starts with the music. When Nicolina writes, the emotion in the music and melody come first and are woven together with lyrics. Much like her musical influences Lizzy McAlpine, Yebba, and, of course, Adele, Nicolina writes from her heart and connects with audiences where they’re at, hitting straight at the emotional heart of the matter through music and the power of her voice.
Her hit single “Situations”, started from a teenage romance that lacked defined boundaries or pure intentions. Nicolina says, “I wanted to write an upbeat song about those feelings of the initial excitement of pursuing someone but also the uncertainty in that type of relationship that results in a ‘situationship’”. Co-written with Liz Rodrigues (Celine Dion, P!nk) and Cassie Dasilva (Universal Music recording artist) and co-written and produced by Steve Mo (Finger Eleven, LØLØ, Kayla Diamond), “Situations” is a breakout single.
Nicolina’s debut EP ‘Rearview’ (October 2024) features a collection of 5 songs that best reflect where Nicolina is at as a songwriter and as an evolving artist. With captivating singles like ‘Way Out’, the emotional ballad ‘Pretty’ and tempo driven ‘Situations’ there’s an expression of a girl evolving into a women and navigating relationships.
